Christmas Festivities: Part 1

It is proving to be a busy holiday season over here so in order to give you as many pictures as I can, I'm breaking up Christmas fun into a few different posts :). I know I already posted one like this in my previous post, but seriously, how could I resist another picture of this dude in a plaid onesie?!

Huntsville is trying really hard to be a little cooler of a city and last year one of the cool things they decided to do was make an ice rink outside of the art museum that's only open during the holiday season. They did it again this year, but this time, they lined the sidewalks with different, really fun, Christmas trees decorated by local businesses. We went to check out the trees with our friends Ben and Sarah (with little Riley) and had heart attacks fun running after Silas in the crowd of people.

It was freezing!

 My personal favorite!

 One of Silas' favorites.

An actual family picture!

I hosted my 4th annual cookie swap the next day and I have to say….the competition was fierce this year!

Molasses, Sugar, Chocolate Chip, Cloud, Frostbite, Rolo, Oatmeal Cream Pie, etc.

I love getting these group of ladies together every year for brunch, fellowship, cookies, and shared belly aches! It's so fun to see all of the new babies too. How many more babies will attend next year?!

Later that day, we had Christmas with the Elmore side at Aunt Trish and Uncle Tim's house. It was so good to see Grandpa George and Grandma Carol along with the rest of the family. Silas fell in love with Grandpa George just like all of the other grand babies do!

 Silas was giggling so hard!

Sharing a joke…

 Sharing Grandpa's hat.

Silas and Grandpa George put on a show for everybody with their guitar playing and Silas' sweet dance moves. This kid is going to be musical! He already does pretty well keeping up a nice beat, especially for his age.

Really an awful picture, but you can see how fast Silas was dancing!

 Mesmerized…

Silas loved that little guitar so much, he carried it around the house for awhile.

Until he was handed a bow by his cousin, Peyton….

May the odds be ever in your favor!

And then he realized what other cool toys were in the house….

 Like blocks…

and tennis balls….

and an open bathroom perfect for his toy truck to roam.

It's always so good to spend time with family, relax, and eat some good food!

Adam was faking, but I know he was tired. Hard working man!

Silas also received his first Christmas gifts of the season. It took him until the final present, but I think he's starting to understand the concept of ripping paper off of the object. I can't wait until Christmas morning!

 "Is this a joystick?"

 "Hmm…it's brown…"

 "It's soft…"

"It's a bear that looks like a puppy! I LOVE it!!!"

Silas has been doing great with these blocks the past week! My little learner :)

Someone was tired of the paparazzi.

I hope everyone else is enjoying this hectic, joyful time of year!

15 Months

Little man turned 15 months on December 8! He is quickly growing out of baby mode into full on toddler/big kid mode. The faces that kid gives me sometimes…mostly sweet and inquisitive, but there are plenty of stink faces to go around…like this one.

GROWTH
Silas is finally moving up the charts on weight! He weighs 22 pounds (15th percentile) and is 301/2 inches tall (25th-30th percentile). He is still nursing once a day and eats anything and everything. I would have to say his favorite foods right now are honey crisp apples, crackers, green peas, and cheese.

WORDS
Silas has only said "momma" maybe twice and has called me "mum" only occasionally. He regularly says "dada", "dat", "go", "yeah", and lots of consonant sounds like "guh", "buh, ""ss", "ffh", and "tuh". I love watching him pretend to talk on the phone. He definitely understands what we are saying and can follow 1-2 step directions.

PLAY
We are in trouble with Silas; he loves to play hard and appears to have absolutely no fear. His new favorite activity is to pull his arms back, babble something that sounds like "ready, set, go!", and will jump/fall into the couch, our bed, pillows on the ground, or us if we are laying down. He really enjoys pushing around his toy cars and tractors, making sounds for them and still reads his books. We are starting to become interested in stacking, puzzles, and shape sorting.

He is also a crazy daredevil with climbing furniture…we have little mini heart attacks multiple times a day over here. Even with supervision, crazy things can happen!

"What are you looking at?"

 Clapping at his accomplishment…

 …relishing in the view.

TEMPERAMENT
Silas is such a sweet, funny boy. He is very playful and carefree…I want to be more like him :). He absolutely LOVES music and has learned how to dance. The other day, we went to Bridge Street to do some Christmas shopping and Silas would run over to the speakers placed in the grassy centers and would start dancing…even spinning slowly in circles. Adam and I about died from how incredibly cute it was! Apparently, all of our dance parties in the kitchen are paying off! He is also known for trying to get up on stage during youth group's worship time. One time, they let him help lead…

He is also very tender hearted. He will cry in a way that would make you think you broke his little heart if you take food from him. This is not a common occurrence, so let me explain: there have been times Silas has put too much food in his mouth and I'm afraid he's going to get choked, he lays a cheerio down on the mall floor to eat later, or the other day, his cousins took an apple slice from him, thinking he wasn't supposed to have it. Every single one of those ended in him shedding very pitiful tears that hurts this Momma's heart.

He has a good cry face.

All in all, Silas is doing wonderful and he is such a blessing and joy to have around. I love being his Mommy!

 This face..this boy…

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a pretty low-key Thanksgiving weekend, with me having to work Friday and part of Saturday, but it was fun! Here's a short recap:

We went to our friend, Marilynn's, for Thanksgiving Day and had a lot of great food (I still have the remnants of 4 pies in our fridge)! Silas loved playing the piano, walking around the yard with Marilynn's mom, petting the neighbor's dog, and of course playing with sticks.

It's hard to get a non-blurry picture of this cutie.

 There we go.

Of course, Saturday was a big day in our family: Iron Bowl! It was a great game, but needless to say, very disappointing for these Alabama fans. At least we were able to watch with Adam's family and Silas had a fellow baby to play with, Aunt Embree!

He looks so grown up in this picture!

We also went to pick out our Christmas tree and Silas had fun with all the decor :)

Now, there's just one more thing for Wild Man to get into :)

 Silas took this one!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving too!
