The Last of The Belly Pics

Needless to say, the summer flew by and now it's mid-September, over two months since my last post. Here's some pictures to catch you up:

Silas was the only boy allowed to attend a girl's night out back in July. He enjoyed awesome Mexican food from Rosie's and live music at Humphrey's.

 Adam's Grandpa Henry was so very generous and bought Silas a crib and a dresser. I sat on the therapy ball in the lower left hand corner and "supervised" while Adam did all the hard work :).

This was the day of my first baby shower thrown by some lovely friends from church. It was awesome.

We've been able to spend a lot of quality time with our friend Lane and his lovely girlfriend, Emily. She stays at our house when she comes to visit for the weekend. We love having her and being able to serve her in ways others served Adam and I when we were dating long distance. Here's a picture of the happy couple.

They also know how to throw a good party. For Lane's birthday, they threw a 1920's party. It produced some great pictures!

I think this will be our Halloween costumes this year. Now just to find a way to dress up Silas like the 1920's.

I don't have any chalkboard pictures of week 35, but I do have pictures from my work baby shower. My co-worker, Mandi, had it at her house. She is also Silas' surrogate "Ninnie" and made the curtains and bedding for his room (I'll post pictures of the nursery soon).

 Oh my scrubs! I was actually able to continue to wear most of my pre-pregnancy scrubs to work, but this date, I just wanted to be comfortable and wore some larger scrubs that Mandi had let me borrow. I began getting VERY uncomfortable with my upper right side going numb from Silas' bottom sticking out. Many of my kids at work did pelvic rocks with me those weeks as part of their therapy sessions.

At my 36 week doctor's appointment, I was already 90% effaced and 1 1/2 cm dilated; my doctor stated that she doubted I would make it to 38 weeks before Silas came. We slightly panicked because we still needed a car seat and other essential items, but we had one more shower that weekend with friends and family.

My sister-in-law, Lisa, made such cute and sweet decorations! It was a really fun, co-ed shower and we got our car seat...God always provides :).

Summer Fun

I can't believe it's already July; this summer is flying by! I'm okay with that though because it just gets me one step closer to Silas' arrival. Here are some of the fun activities we've been up to lately.

Family get together at my father-in-law's. This is also the day we learned that Silas would be older than his new aunt or uncle. Yep, Lori, our wonderful step-mother (in-law for me) is pregnant!!! We are super excited that Silas will have someone to play with that's close in age (Baby Elmore is due January 2013).

This is my friend Hayden. Sadly, this was taken at her going away party. Hayden is following the Lord's leading and accepted a youth ministry position in Memphis, so I'm not allowed to be too sad, plus, I'll just have one more friend to visit in that city :)

This is an action shot of Adam being viciously licked by Baxter the dog. Almost every Friday night, our friends, Ben and Sarah, have happy hour at their house. Sometimes it extends out into the community. This particular night, we went to Lowe Mill's concert on the dock and listened to a band whose name I can't recall.

Adam's nieces came to town. They have never been to the south and didn't know our side of the family that well, so we dressed up to fool them.

We spent the hottest days of June at Lake Guntersville with the family. It got to 107 one of those days. Needless to say, the lake felt like bathwater, not very refreshing, but still a good time.

Uncle Tim brought his DJ/Karaoke equipment which equaled hours of fun. Here are Cliff and Reid belting out a tune.

We celebrated Hope's birthday. We had been playing Quelf (awesome board game) which is why she has her head wrapped in toilet paper.

Cheering for Karaoke. I really think every family get together should have this! It would be great for Adam's nieces to move closer to us; they are a lot of fun :)

As you can see, it's been a busy, but fun couple of months. I hope everyone else is having a great summer!

Two Months Worth

I am a bad blogger. It's true. I'm lazy about posting and I am so sorry for that. I do have a lot of pictures and fun things to share, so that should make up for it, right? Adam went to bed early, so I have plenty of time to blog! I could clean my house, but this sounds like more fun :).

Here are 7 weeks worth of belly pictures!

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from week 22 because we let a friend borrow our camera during that time.

Adam took a picture of me changing our chalkboard. I don't even look pregnant in this picture, but when I turn around.....

BAM!! Check out the difference two weeks make! Silas just keeps growing and growing!

I've got to brag on my husband for just a minute. Adam has been really sweet about surprising me with things during this pregnancy. One day, I came home and this dress and a pregancy pillow were sitting on the bed. He picked this out himself...my husband has good taste :) And that pregnancy pillow...AMAZING!!

My belly is turning into a basketball. Thankfully, I can still fit into a lot of my regular clothes, but some are getting a little tight..and short.

And this was taken today. I am officially in the third trimester (yippee!!) and now have to go to the doctor every two weeks. I have also been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions which give me great opportunity to practice my relaxation techniques we've been learning in our Bradley Birthing classes.

I highly recommend these classes to anyone who is pregnant or seeking a more natural birth; they're a lot of fun. And yes, I am planning and praying for a natural labor, I think I can do it and I'm really excited to try :)

We also had our 4D ultrasound recently and got to see a better glimpse of cute,little,Silas. Here are a few pictures of our handsome boy.

Look at that face!! I don't even know what to think sometimes; it doesn't seem like he is mine. I love those chubby cheeks and cute lips! This is my favorite picture :)

Maybe he will be a musician with those long fingers!

The ultrasound technician told us he is sitting super low in my pelvis (good boy), but is "sunny side up" which could mean long, more painful labor if he doesn't flip (flip Silas!). He is constantly moving, loves good music, responds to his name when Adam prays for him (no joke, every time), and seems to be a happy, chill, little guy. I can't wait to meet him!!

Babymoon 2012

Last week, Adam and I were able to get away to the beach for our last vacation without a little person tagging along (Silas was there of course, just tucked away in my belly). It was so needed and so much fun to spend time with my favorite person in the whole, wide, world without the distractions you can have with the every day routine.

The view from our balcony. We found a really great deal on Expedia for our hotel. It was about a 3 minute walk to the beach and had a king size bed which was so comfy. Their continental breakfast was not so great; they carried a cereal called 40 Percent Bran. We joked that sometimes 100 percent is perhaps just too much.

Adam is working hard to secure our umbrella to protect my ghostly-white skin from too much sun.

Do you see what I mean by ghostly-white? This is the skin God gave me and it doesn't tan, so I won't complain too much.

We spent our time on the beach people watching, doing puzzle books (Adam hates them, but was a trooper and did them with me), talking, and swimming in the very clear waters of Destin, FL.

While clearing some litter from the water, Adam found and rescued this little guy and proceeded to become fast friends.

We set him back in the water towards freedom or to get stuck in an empty milk jug again. We saw a shark in the water while swimming, not once, but twice. We decided to rent a sea kayak for an hour to go hunt him down. Of course, we never saw the shark again, but the kayak was a lot of fun. I love all the adventures Silas gets to take part in; such a busy little guy with sea kayaking, swimming with sharks, running half marathons, etc.

We overheard a woman one day at the beach talking about the pictures they were going to take at sunset and how everyone was supposed to wear white. Adam and I talked about this and he thought that was a silly idea to dress up in white and take pictures (no offense to anyone who does that) so we decided to take our own version of those said pictures. Here are a few of my favorites :)

Even if Adam started taking those pictures to be funny, we did end up with some really good, "traditional" beach pictures. Deep down, I think he likes traditions, but just wants to make them his own and I think that's pretty great.

It's hard to believe that next year there will be a little, baby, boy in the sand with us. I can't wait to see through his new little eyes what he thinks of all the different parts of God's creation. Maybe I will see them anew too.
